Smallest Railroad Passenger Depot

Here is one for Robert Ripley! The smallest railroad passenger station is located on the Ligonier Valley Railroad, at Idlewild Park. It has been in use since 1878. The actual size of this passenger depot is approximately 9 feet by 16 feet and 9 feet high. It is divided into three compartments: the waiting room for passengers occupies one-half of the depot; a half of the remaining space is for use of telegraph operator and ticket agent, and the remaining one-quarter of the building was made for and occupied by the freight and express office. The depot is of quaint architecture and constructed of wood.

Idlewild Park has been a regular stop on the Ligonier Valley Railroad schedules since 1878.
