Auto Crashed Into Engine

Earl Metzler, of Greensburg, escaped injury when the automobile which he was driving crashed into an L.V.R.R. engine on the Main street crossing at Ligonier, about 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening.

The accident occurred shortly after a rainstorm which had made the highway slippery.

Metzler was traveling east. The engine with a single passenger coach attached to it was backing over the crossing. The coach had passed over the crossing but the engine was still on it when the automobile crashed into it.

The auto hit the engine near the step leading into the cab.

The automobile skidded around so that the left hand door, right next to where Mr. Metzler was sitting smashed heavily into the side of the engine, but Mr. Metzler was not injured.

After hitting the engine the automobile ran across the road and onto the pavement in front of the William Campbell home where it finally came to a stop in front of a fence around the Campbell yard.

The left hand side of the Metzler machine was damaged and the step leading into the cab was knocked off the engine.
