Charles Edward Naugle

Charles Edward Naugle, one of Ligonier's prominent residents died at his some on South Market street at 2 o'clock Monday morning, March 12, 1928, aged 68 years 10 months. Heart trouble was the immediate cause of his death. He had been in ill health ever since his retirement from the service of the Ligonier Valley Railroad on March 2, 1923 but was able to be around until Sunday when he became seriously ill.

Mr. Naugle was born on May 12th, 1859, near Laughlintown. He had been a resident of Ligonier and Ligonier Valley all of his life.

He entered the employ of the Ligonier Valley Railroad on April 1, 1880, at the time that R. B. Mellon worked on the road. He was employed as a freight conductor and remained at this duty until 1912, when he was made a passenger conductor.

He was pensioned on January 1, 1926.

Mr. Naugle was a member of the Ligonier Methodist Episcopal church, and belonged to the F. & A. M. Lodge No. 331, of Ligonier.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Charlotte Mathilda Naugle, and two sons, George of Ligonier, and Harry of Canton, Ohio. He is also survived by two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock this Wednesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. Richard M. Cameron. Interment will be made in the Valley cemetery.
