Fire At Barrett Paper Mill
Fire caused by the ignition of rags and paper by a spark from a dinkey engine at the Barrett Paper Mill at Kingston on Monday destroyed a carload of felt paper and about 150 bales of rags and paper.
The fire started shortly after noon in the rag shed, the spark coming from the dinkey engine used at the mill. An alarm was sent in and the Latrobe fire truck responded promptly. In the meantime the fire fighting equipment at the mill was put into use, and when the Latrobe fire truck arrived, water was being played on the flames. The rags and paper smoldered for some time.
Several freight cars standing on the siding, which were endangered by the flames, were moved when Superintendent Hyland of the L.V.R.R. sent an engine to the scene.
