Mrs. Hyland's Illness Results In Death
Mrs. Lillian Hyland, wife of W. V. Hyland, general manager of the Ligonier Valley Railroad, died in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, where she had been a patient for about 10 days previous to her death which occurred Wednesday evening, August 11, 1920, at 10:30 o'clock, after a courageous fight for her life extending over several years of sickness. Her death was due to pernicious anemia. Numerous transfusions of blood were resorted to that her life might be prolonged, but death finally came. She is survived by her husband and two children, Ella and William, also by a sister, Ida, whose home is a McKeesport, and a brother, Edward, residing at Buffalo, N.Y. A sister died at Canton,
Ohio, about a month ago.
Mr. Hyland and family moved to Ligonier about 1912, shortly after he received the appointment as general manager of the Ligonier Valley Railroad. Since then he erected a fine home on North Fairfield street.
The funeral services were held at the Hyland residence on Friday evening, August 13, at 7:30, Mrs. Hyland's pastor, Rev. W. F. Fleming, of the First Presbyterian church, conducting the service in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. A very large collection of beautiful flowers, the gifts of friends, were banked around the casket and filled the room.
The interment, which was private, was held on Saturday forenoon at 10:30 and was made in the Valley cemetery.
Mr. Hyland and children have the sincere sympathy of the people of this community.
