New Gas Field Found in Greensburg Area
Greensburg, March 4. Great excitement prevails in Westmoreland county over the discovery of a new gas field at McCance, near here.
The new Well is being drilled by the Peoples Natural Gas Co. and the Government Geological Survey Bureau.
At a depth of 7,000 feet the sand was barely broken when the gas came in with such force that tools were blown from the hole, drillers say.
The flow is so powerful, those on the ground say, that the roar can be heard for miles. No effort has yet been made to test the capacity.
