Employe Of Oak Brick Co. Is Killed By Cave-In
One man was instantly killed and another one was badly injured at the plant of the Oak Brick Company, near Kingston, this morning, when half a brick kiln fell in burying the two men beneath it. The accident is said to have been due to the negligence upon the part of the unfortunate man, Joseph Medwecke, who met his death.
It seems that he and Nicholas Gasko, employed as off-bearers at the brick works were engaged in placing a crown on a kiln and Medwacke (Medweck) in attempting to knock out a brick used a hammer causing the half kiln to fall in.
By the time they were unearthed it was found that Medwecke was dead, his head having been badly crushed, while Gasko, who was removed to the Latrobe Hospital escaped with a compound fracture of the left leg and other minor injuries.
The deceased is survived by a wife and three small children. The arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made.
