L. V. R. R. Gives Men Time Off to Garden
As an encouragement to its employes to take up gardening, the Ligonier Valley Railroad Company, thru Superintendent W. F. Hyland, has announced that each man on the companys payrolls may have two days off, with full pay, providing he devotes the time to work in the garden.
Already a number of the employes have taken advantage of the offer, and others are planning to do so, as their turn comes, the indications being that practically every man, from engineer to member of section gang crew will start a garden.
By taking two days now, it is figured that a man can get his garden under way in first class shape.
In the fall, in case the employes should raise potatoes or other vegetables requiring time to garner them two additional day s will be given by the company, with full pay, for that purpose.
The L. V. R. R. carries many men on its payrolls, and a most practicable aid to the food-raising movement is certain to result from the plan which has been adopted by Superintendent Hyland.
