A Large Purchase Of Timber Land
Timber Will Be Cut and Placed Upon the Market Soon
Branch Railroad To Be Built
Seger Bros. Recently purchased a large tract of land with considerable timber thereon, consisting of over 300 acres a short distance south of the Speedwell school house in Ligonier township and known as the Laughery place, from Mrs. Margaret Laughery, of Ligonier. The purchase price is reported to be $50 per acre, which would approximate $16,000.
Seger Bros. have another large section of timber adjoining the Laughery place and they are arranging to have the timber manufactured into lumber in the near future. To do so a branch railroad will be built from the P. W. & S. R. R. near Speedwell up Furnace Run to the timber. Engineers have already surveyed for the road and work will soon start with the expectation of shipping lumber the coming spring and summer and on until the big timber track has been converted into marketable material. This enterprise will give employment to a number of men and we congratulate the Seger Bros. On their enterprise and business activity.
