Pennsy to Try Plan of Sunday Excursions to Idlewild Park

On Sunday, June 27th, the Pennsylvania Railroad will run a special train from Pittsburgh to Idlewild, as a test in order to ascertain the extent of the demand for a regular Sunday excursion service to the popular picnic grounds in the valley.

The company is said to have had many requests for a Sunday service between Pittsburgh and Idlewild, and after considering the matter for several weeks, it has been decided to run a train as an experiment. Should it be patronized in a manner to make the project feasible Sunday excursions would be run throughout the summer months. The train on the 27th, is to leave Pittsburgh at 8:30 a.m. and Idlewild at 6:60 p.m. stopping at the larger intervening stations, and affording opportunity to folks to spend the day at Idlewild.

Two years ago, the L. V. R. R. ran a late evening train from Idlewild to Latrobe on Sundays, and it was crowded each time with local people.
