Coal Being Leased Along Coalpit Run
From Near Millbank Station to Near Head of Stream

Harry S. Bott, of Altoona, assisted by T. J. Laughery and W. A. Elder has leased an extensive tract of land bordering on Coalpit Run for the purposes of developing the upper Freeport vein on coal. This vein of coal has been worked to some extent at Darlington along the line of the L.V.R.R. and has proven to be an excellent coal.

The leases have about all been signed up and are dated Feb. 15, 1915 and are to run 90 days from that date and if not purchased by that date the lease become null and void. In connection with the lease, arrangements are made to mine, carry away and market said coal with the privilege also of erecting a necessary plant in conducting the business. All the people along Coalpit Run had signed Monday morning excepting three and they were expected to sign the first of this week. This would open an additional valuable coal territory in the Ligonier Valley.
