New Engine For "Liggie"

A new passenger engine arrived over the Pennsylvania Railroad from the Baldwin Works, this morning, consigned to the Ligonier Valley Railroad. It makes the second new engine to be purchased by the "Liggie" within the past year, and its acquisition gives the road seven engines, including three of the large type freight engines, two of the small type and two passenger engines. The new engine will be used regularly during the picnic season.

Business on the road continues to more than hold its own, even during the slump in the coal and coke business, and with the resumption of busier times at the Valley plants, still more freight will be brought down to Latrobe. The beginning of shipments by the Ligonier Lumber Company, scheduled for the near future, will also mean more freight for the road. The coal plants along the Wilpen branch have been doing fairly well, even during the slump.

Picnic dates are being taken rapidly and a big season at Idlewild is assured.
