Damage Cases On Trail
Suits Against the Ligonier Valley Railroad Now in Court
The damage suits against the Ligonier Valley railroad for injuries in the wreck on the Wilpen branch on July 5, 1912, are likely all to be up for trial at Greensburg this week. The suit of Dr. J. B. Johnson came up for trial before Judge A. D. McConnell, Monday. Dr. Johnson, a practicing physician of Ligonier, who was on the train when it was wrecked, claims he was permanently injured in the accident and asks damages in the sum of $30,000. His testimony was that since the accident his hearing has been impaired and that he is suffering from internal injuries. A number of other witnesses for the plaintiff were called Monday. The case was in progress all day yesterday and will hardly get to the jury before today.
Four other cases growing out of the wreck are listed for this week. They are Mrs. John Ankney, for death of husband; James Tosh, for death of his father; Bessie Hoon, for injuries received, and a child of Mrs. Dillon who was killed in the wreck.
The other cases so far was we know have all been settled amicably.
