L. V. R. R. Suits Listed For the Coming Term
In commenting upon the listing of a number of damage suits against the L.V.R.R., growing out of the Wilpen wreck, for the term of court commencing next Monday, the Greensburg Argus says that up until April first, 1913, the Ligonier Valley Railroad Co. had paid out in damages the sum of $97,929.59, all told, for loss of life, and another $9,850 for repairs. It is also declared that 26 claims were settled for sums aggregating from $60,000 to $65,000.
The gross earning of the company, for 1912, are declared to have been $196,763.99, and the expenditures $168,951.40, leaving the net earnings at $27,812.59. The rolling stock and real estate are valued at $557,783.20. The dividends paid in 1912, it is said, amounted to $24,000.
