Three Wreck Cases Settled
Bernard Gray, Mrs. Ankney and Alice Ritenour Accept Company's Offer
Three cases against the L.V.R.R. Co. on account of the wreck on Wilpen branch July 5, 1912, have been amicably settled satisfactory to the plaintiffs. The first was that of Bernard Gray, of Clairton, Pa., for the death of his wife and injury to himself. The second case was that of Mrs. John Ankney for the death of her husband, an employe on one of the freight engines that was in the fatal wreck. Suits had been entered in both of these cases, but the plaintiffs decided to accept the offer of the company and the suits were withdrawn. In the Ankney case, thirty-four witnesses had been subpoenaed for plaintiff and about as many for defendant company. The witnesses were notified not to appear.
The third case was that of Miss Alice Ritenour for injuries received in the same wreck. The witnesses in this case had also been subpoenaed and were notified not to appear. As she is under 21 years of age, the case was passed upon in Orphans' Court, Greensburg, last week.
The case of Dr. J. B. Johnston in claim for damages sustained in the wreck has been
continued.
