Refused to Pay Fare on L.V.R.R.
Because he refused to pay his fare and raised considerable disturbance on the Ligonier train, yesterday afternoon, Thomas O'Connell, a quarryman from Long Bridge, was sentenced to pay a fine of ten dollars or serve 30 days in jail by Justice Ackerman, this morning.
According to the testimony of the Ligonier trainmen, O'Donnell got on the train at Ligonier. He was intoxicated and started to curse and use vile language so that he was put back in the smoker. When he was asked to pay his fare, he refused, saying that he had paid it once. At Darlington, Superintendent Hyland was notified of the trouble, and
he telephoned to Latrobe. Constable Kelly met the train and arrested O'Donnell.
O'Donnell admitted that he had been drinking, and claimed that he had bought a ticket, but could not find it. When searched at the City Hall, yesterday, no ticket was found.
As O'Donnell has no money he will likely have to serve thirty days. He served five days in the local jail, a few weeks ago on a disorderly conduct charge.
