Now Building New Railroad
From Lumber Mill Near Denny Race Track to Mountain
Contractors, Carson & Joyce
Contractors Carson & Joyce, of DuBois, Pa., have secured the contract for the building of the railroad from the Ligonier lumber mill near the Denny race track along the line of the L.V.R.R. track up to the mountain about four miles beyond Kissell's Springs hotel. The entire length of this railroad when completed will be about six and one-half miles.
The road will be of the regular standard gauge and as far as the Kissell property will be of easy grade, but from that point up the mountain will be somewhat heavier grade.
It is the purpose of the contractors to push the work forward as rapidly as possible to completion. In fact they have already begun operation, having commenced work in earnest on Monday of this week. The contractors are men of experience along this line of work and will build a good railroad and do it promptly. We are glad to state that the erection of the lumber mill and manufacture of the vast tract of timber on the mountain into marketable lumber and the building of a good and substantial railroad is in the hands of efficient men which means a success and a substantial benefit to the people of Ligonier and vicinity. These men are all active, progressive business men and the erection of the lumber mill and the building of the railroad up into the timber of the mountain will be completed soon as possible and a very desirable industry added to Ligonier valley business.
