New Railroad Is Being Planned to Tract of Timber
Within the coming week, it is expected, the Ligonier Valley Railroad will award the contract for the building of a spur four and one-half miles in length, extending from Oak Grove northwardly, back of Kissell's Springs.
The new branch is to be built for the use, primarily, of the Ligonier Lumber Company,
which is about to undertake the development of 2,200 acres of timberland, lying north of Oak Grove.
An immense mill is now on its way, from West Virginia. It is to be set up at Oak Grove, the logs being hauled to it, down the side of the ridge. It is proposed to use up everything, practically, lathe being made of the slabs.
It is expected that the company will furnish employment to 100 men or more.
A tram road is to lead from the new branch, up the side of the ridge, into the timberland.
After the timber is marketed, it is proposed to develop the coal, it is said.
