Recent Deaths
Edward D. Rathmell
Edward D. Rathmell, Sr., aged 53 years, died at his home on Washington street,
Ligonier, last Thursday, March 12, 1931, following a long illness. Mr. Rathmell came to Ligonier from Williamsport, to work for the Byers-Allen Lumber Co., which was located here a number of years ago. Later he was employed by the Ligonier Valley Rail Road Co., as baggagemaster. He was injured in the Ligonier Valley train wreck in 1912, in which many persons were killed, but recovered from his injuries. Later he was made car distributor and still later train dispatcher. He remained in the L.V.R.R.'s employ until illness forced him to retire. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the George S. Kemble Club and the St. James Ev. Lutheran Church. He is survived by his widow, one
daughter, Martha, and two sons, John and Edward, Jr.
Funeral services in charge of his pastor, the Rev. Oscar W. Carlson, were held at the home, last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the Ligonier Valley
Cemetery.
