L.V.R.R. Wreck Case Is Referred To Dom
The matter of instituting criminal proceedings against the Ligonier Railroad Company because of the fatal wreck occurring on the Wilpen branch, is said to have been left to District Attorney Dom, of this county, by Attorney General John C. Bell.
Last November the State Railroad Commission filed its reports as to the wreck with Attorney General Bell, the report containing the charge that the investigation had shown the company to have been fully (sic) of gross negligence in the operation of its system.
The Attorney General has sent this report to Mr. Dom, together with a letter that the report charged gross negligence upon the part of the company.
Mr. Dom stated, yesterday, that the matter of beginning criminal proceedings was under advisement, and that the report had been sent to him, simply for his consideration. He said that he had not come to any conclusion as yet, regarding the matter, as his work in getting ready for the February term of courts had kept him busy. He said that the matter would not be considered finally, until after the present term of court.
District Attorney Dom attended the coroner's inquest which was held at Ligonier, following the wreck. The coroner's jury placed the responsibility upon the company.
