We print the above articles as an object lesson to some of the Ligonier citizens who not only never did anything to help our town when it didn't help them more, but have been kickers even at the things we have. The Byers-Allen Lumber Co. was a good thing for our town and left a lot of money here paid to the employes, yet there were those who found fault and always were ready to criticize. The Ligonier Valley railroad has been a great boon to Ligonier without which our town would be nothing almost. Still there are
people that continue to find fault with the railroad management. What would Ligonier be today without a railroad? Stop grumbling and think once. There was paid out by the corporation to its Ligonier and vicinity employes during the year 1909 $60,641.08. This is no small item in prosperity of our town. Most of this money was spent in Ligonier valley. Did we not have this railroad or was it a through line with nothing but a stop here or did the men employed live at the other end of the road and the loss to our town would be most disastrous. Let us encourage what we have and also try to get new enterprises
established here. We have the assurance that satisfactory freight rates can be secured by any company desiring to locate at Ligonier. Try to get something here that will give employment to our men and boys so they can remain at home at work. It's up to the board of trade and the civic organization to do something along this line.
