New Coal Company
The South Ligonier Coal Co., whose application for charter was recently published in the Echo has now begun operations and has started the opening of a coal mine on the Mrs. Margaret J. Smith farm near town. Coal will be mined for local use and for distant trade. A number of coke ovens may be erected later. Mr. Kerr from Freeport, Pa., is general manager of the works. This is a new industry added to our growing community. Let us have more that the good work may go on adding to local prosperity.
