Settled Claims
Mrs. Neff Accepts $150 From P. W. & S. Railroad Company

Several days ago Mrs. Mae Neff settled her claim against the Pittsburgh, Westmoreland & Somerset Railroad company for $150. Last fall, it will be remembered, Mrs. Neff was a passenger on the evening passenger train from Ligonier to Somerset. While ascending the steep western slope of the Laurel Hill mountains the passenger coach became uncoupled from the train and ran down the mountain at a terrific speed until it reached a safety switch, where it was derailed and turned on its side across a small stream of water. The car was set afire by the oil lamps and the stove, which were upset, and Mrs. Neff, the sole occupant of the car, barely escaped with her life.

Two other passengers, H. C. Herbert and Stanley Wilson, both of Somerset, jumped from the runaway coach and sustained slight injuries. They have been paid $40 and $20, respectively. Somerset Herald.
