Big Crowd At Idlewild
It is estimated that over 7,000 people attended the annual Idlewild Fourth of July picnic. Many from Ligonier increased the crowd. The receipts for the day amounted to $1,700, nearly all clear money. Idlewild afforded its usual many sources of pleasure and amusement and everything passed of under the careful direction of Geo. Senft, General Manager of the Ligonier Valley railroad, without a jar or an accident. Every train from Ligonier carried a big crowd and more than 1,000 valley people were at Idlewild.
Many Over To Somerset
There was a large crowd of Ligonier people went over to Somerset via the P. W. & S. railroad. The early morning train carried fully 200 people it was necessary for the P. W. & S. to borrow a coach from the L.V.R.R. Co., yet every space was crowded. The other trains of the day were also crowded and it is estimated that 500 people went over to Somerset. The Odd Fellow's picnic, the ball game between Ligonier and Berlin Odd Fellows, the delightful rude and a trip across the mountain were the attraction.
