Another Robbery Is Committed On The Y
For the second time in three nights, thieves again visited the L. V. R. R. Y on Saturday night , and repeated their unlawful procedure of Thursday night, having broken the seal of a freight car filled with merchandise and having made off with several hundred dollars worth of goods. The car had been left standing on the Y, there having been no room for it in the local yards, and yesterday morning the door on the car was found open, the seal having been broken off some time during the night. Once inside the car the thieves had overhauled the contents of the car, not hesitating to tear open a lot of the boxes which the car contained.
Among the goods stolen from the car were at least seventy-five pairs of shoes, all of which were taken from their boxes and carried away. The contents of the car were thoroughly overhauled, showing that the thieves had put in a lot of time picking out what they most desired.
Detective Sharretts was here bright and early yesterday morning, having been apprised of the robbery. He could discover no clue, however. The robbery must have been committed early Saturday night, before the snow began to fall, for all tracks leading to and from the car had been wiped out by the snow.
