Railroads A Benefit
We have it from very good authority that there soon will be a reduction in the passenger rates over the Ligonier Valley railroad to correspond with the recent reduction made by the Pennsylvania Railroad Co.
The Ligonier Valley R. R. Co. management has always been ready and willing to reduce the rates of travel and freight whenever the business of the road would justify a reduction. This road has made it possible for this valley to be improved and its resources developed. What would this valley be or have been the past years without a railroad? The people who remember the days of the "Ben Bear" hack conditions know. A railroad is the life of a community and since the beginning of the L.V.R.R. in 1877, our valley has steadily, slowly but surely grown. Compare Ligonier and this valley of 1876 with what is found in 1906, and the change is wonderful in a financial way. The older citizens do not need to be told of the improvement. They know all about it. There are people who would have you believe that these advancements were made in spite of the railroads, but we are decidedly of the opinion that they are because of the railroads. Every improvement of the railroads means an advantage to the people of this section.
