Somerset Herald: Hundreds of people strolled out along the line of the Pittsburg, Westmoreland & Somerset railroad Sunday to inspect the grading already completed between here and Husband. Nearly the entire stretch of three miles is ready for the ties and steel. Only two cuts, both less than three feet deep, on the Begley and Miller farms, remain to be completed, and very little work remains to be done in either of them. The railroad follows close along the west bank of Coxs Creek from its source near Husband to a point a short distance west of the Stoyestown road, where it crosses the creek to connect with the Somerset and Cambria branch. The railroad crosses the Somerset & Johnstown turnpike at a grade a few yards south of the Barclay bridge, and continues on the same level through the Picking property, which has been purchased by the railroad for terminals.
