About 200 Go To Zufall Place
Up The P. W. & S. Railroad A Grand Mountain Ride, Picturesque And Beautiful A Pleasant Time Spent On The Mountain By Ligonier Firemen And Their Many Friends Everybody Pleased With The Trip And The Picnic On The Mountain
As noticed in the last two issues of the Echo and by bills posted the firemen of Ligonier and many of their friends held a picnic last Wednesday on the top of the mountain at the Zufall place in Somerset county. It was a beautiful day for a mountain picnic and everybody enjoyed it.
Arrangements were made by the managers of the picnic party by which the picnickers were taken over the Pittsburg, Westmoreland & Somerset railroad to the Zufall place on the Somerset side of the mountain where there is a beautiful and delightful place for
holding a picnic. About 200 people from town went up on the P. W. & S. at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and returned arriving at Ligonier at 4:00 p.m. As has already been stated in the Echo the views and scenery along this road to the mountain top is one of continued delight and picturesqueness hard to surpass. There is a continual shifting of scenes and enchantments, a delight to those who travel along this railroad. A very pleasant social and enjoyable day was spent by all and as there was no rain or accident of any kind to mar the pleasures of the day, came home pleased with the delightful time enjoyed.
The picnic party was accompanied by the Ligonier Silver Cornet Band which entertained the people with excellent music not only during the trips up and down the mountain but while at the Mountain park. It was a happy and joyous day to all who were
fortunate enough to be able to attend on this occasion of the firemen's picnic.
