Ligonier Echo
September 6, 1905
Engineers are busily at work in the vicinity of Ft. Palmer and West Fairfield, surveying the tract of coal land, about 11,000 acres in all, which was recently purchased by J.N. Croslen, of New Florence, for a Buffalo, N.Y. syndicate.
It is reported in financial circles that the Westmoreland Central railroad has been sold to eastern capitalists. A charter has been granted for this road, which extends from Bolivar up the valley to Ligonier and thence up to the Loyalhanna Creek into Donegal
township and through to connect with the B&0 road... it is said that the road will be built through from Bolivar to Ligonier in the near future, thus opening up the coal lands of that section to the markets of world.
C.H. Kuhn, the popular and efficient conductor of the Ligonier Valley railroad, will leave in a short time for his vacation and will likely spend it in Canada. Mr. Kuhn is a veteran and is known to thousands who travel on the Ligonier train for he has been with the road ever since it has been in operation and is the third conductor. R.B. Mellon was the first and Ross Murdock, who was in turn succeeded by Mr. Kuhn. He is one of the men who is always on duty and who rarely if ever makes any mistakes and has never had
any serious trouble. - Latrobe Advance
