Opening And Excursion Day Tuesday, November 29, 1904
Arrangements have been made for an excursion day and inspection of the works of the Colonial Coal & Coke Company north of Ligonier which will take place Tuesday, November 29, 1904. On this date a special train will be run from Pittsburgh and intermediate points to the coal mines and return. The rate of round trip from Pittsburgh will be $1.55 and proportionately low rates from intermediate points. On this day the mines and coke ovens will be in operation and there will be loading and shipping of coal. It is expected that two or three hundred people will be on this excursion. Arrangements will be made to make the trip a comfortable and pleasant one plenty to eat and warm drinks. The Ligonier Silver Cornet band will be in attendance at the works and at Ligonier. A pleasant time is promised besides an opportunity to see the plant in operation and the excellent properties owned by the Colonial Coal & Coke Co.
