Made Narrow Escape
J. W. Ambrose Thrown From Wagon Which Was Struck By Engine
J. W. Ambrose, the lumber dealer, made a narrow escape last Wednesday evening, escaping without any serious injury though in great danger of being instantly killed. He had gone to the station of the Ligonier Valley railroad with one horse and wagon for purpose of getting some lumber and driven to the car for purpose of placing the lumber on the wagon. About this time the train of L.V.R.R. came around on the Y and the horse got scared and suddenly backed the wagon on the track in front of the moving engine which struck the wagon, demolishing it, even tearing the shafts to pieces. Mr. Ambrose was hurled forward over the wagon seat and lit on the ground on his head and shoulders, but escaped any serious injury, his arm being slightly hurt and his neck and shoulders considerably shocked by the fall. The hose was not hurt in the least. It was surely a narrow escape.
