More Leasing Of Coal Land
Cook Township Farmers To Receive $25.00
Hopes Of A New Railroad

Coal Territory Again Being Leased By The Farmers In Hopes Of The Development Of The Field The New Seger Railroad To Penetrate The Valley Through Cook And Donegal Townships Other Tests Of Coal Will Probably Soon Be Sold

New leases of the Cook township coal territory is again being taken and the farmers are willing to option their land once more to make it possible for railroads and the development of the coal territory in that section. A. G. Nicely and Josiah McDowell are taking leases from the farmers in the section of Harold and on farther south. It is reported that it will be possible this time to dispose of the leases before the time limit expires. It will be remembered that two tests were made last summer, one near Rector and the other on the E. K. Caven farm near Harold.

The money becoming exhausted before coal was reached at the latter place no fair test was made, while several veins were passed through at the former place but nothing has been done in the matter since. Other tests are expected to be made in the near future along the route of the proposed new railroad by the Seger Coal & Coke Co. for which a charter was obtained November 18th. Full information regarding this new railroad was published in last week's Echo.

The building of a railroad to traverse the valley from Bolivar to Indian Creek would certainly be of great financial advantage to the entire valley and bring to market the coal, timber and undeveloped resources which are without a market.
