May Build Railroad
New Line to be Considered at Meeting to be Held in Pittsburg
The Seger Coal and Coke company and other concerns that are largely interested in Westmoreland and Fayette county coal and timber lands will meet in Pittsburg this week for the purpose of considering the construction of a railroad from Indian Creek station, on the Baltimore and Ohio, to New Florence on the main line of the Pennsylvania. The proposed route passes through Ligonier and will open an immense tract of valuable timber and coal lands that have heretofore been unavailable for lack of railroad facilities.
Parties largely interested in the glass rock and blue rock quarries and building stone are active in the enterprise. It is claimed that the demand for this stone alone would justify the building of such a line. Steps have already been taken to secure a right of way and immediate action is anticipated.
