Railroad Accident
Carload Of 19 Cattle Upset At Millbank Last Wednesday
A wreck occurred on the Ligonier Valley railroad at Millbank Station last Wednesday afternoon by the spreading of the rails on the track. A car containing 19 head of choice cattle left the track and turned over on its side, but went over so gently that the car was not broken and none of the cattle were killed. For or five of them were slightly bruised. A hole had to be cut in the roof of the car to get the cattle out. Another car of the freight train left the track but did not turn over and was soon gotten back on the track.
The cattle were sold by William H. Walkinshaw, of Ligonier township, to Fred Stimler, of Latrobe, and were being shipped to New York City. The cattle were driven back to Mr. Walkinshaw's farm where they now are and all the injured ones are rapidly improving.
These cattle were brought to the valley last fall by Mr. Walkinshaw and fed and made ready for market. The 19 cattle when sold to Mr. Stimler weighted 26,885 pounds, or an
average of 1,415, for which was paid $1,613.10.
