Lutheran Harvest Home Picnic
Idlewild Park, that beautiful, attractive and popular picnic ground was visited last Thursday, Aug. 8th, by the big picnic of the season. Under the successful management of Rev. J. L. Smith, pastor of the Ligonier charge, the Lutherans of Western Pennsylvania held their annual picnic which for numbers, sources of innocent amusement, social enjoyment and arrangements for refreshments is hard to surpass.
The day was one of the most beautiful, could not have been better; so nobody was kept away on account of clouds or rain, and all trains came loaded with smiling happy people anxious to enjoy themselves. A special from Pittsburgh, containing twenty-two oaches,
which brought people from all along the line of the P.R.R., came in about 10:30 and together will those who had arrived on other trains, in carriages, and on foot, the extensive grounds were thronged with visitors. It is estimated that not less than 6,000 people were present during the day.
