RAILROAD FACILITIES
The terminus of the Ligonier V. R. R. is at Ligonier, in the center of the Ligonier Valley. The length of the road is ten miles. It affords grand opportunities for the shipment of freight, and also for passengers to and from the Valley. The road is owned by Mellon Bros., of Pittsburg, and is superintended by Mr. George Senft, who resides at Ligonier. Along the line of this road, through Chestnut Ridge, is a number of stone quarries of almost every description of stone. A great number of car loads of stone are shipped daily from these quarries. Another popular attribute of this road is the famous Idlewild Park, or picnic grounds. This park is used almost daily in the summer by pleasure seekers and those who need recreation, to while away the time and to refresh and invigorate their minds. This park is but three miles from Ligonier and must not be forgotten as the most popular resort in this country. The liberal management of this road is inviting to manufacturers who look well to the medium by which the shipment of their goods is indispensable.
