A Narrow Escape
Thursday last as one of the numerous freight trains of eastward over the Pennsylvania Railroad was passing through Latrobe at a high rate of speed, the engineer on the front engine tightened up his train with sufficient force to pull out a drawhead. This occurred just opposite the Ligonier Valley Railroad Depot. The drawhead came out with a snap, one of its springs passing through a crowd of men standing near the track while the other, striking the roadbed, rebounded and striking the railing along the Ligonier Valley platform broke one of the heavy boards in two pieces. Had any of the men been struck they would have been instantly killed, and this accident goes to show that it is dangerous to even stand near the railroad. Therefore, keep away unless you have business there Latrobe Advance.
