A Telegraph Operator's Narrow Escape

One day last week W. F. Frank, railroad operator at Ligonier, made an almost miraculous escape from instant death. Engineer S. L. French and his crew were engaged in shifting cars in the yard at Ligonier. Frank got on the platform between two box cars and the cars were shoved along the track, one portion of which is covered by a shed, used as a shelter for the motor. The box cars just cleared the side of the shed by about six inches. Young Frank had his head out looking backward when he was caught between the car and the shed. He was jerked from the platform and rolled along the narrow space until the care came to rest. In order to get him out it was necessary to pry the car up and knock several boards off the side of the shed. An examination revealed that fact that his collar bone was fractured and that he had suffered some internal injuries. Dr. McColly is giving him the necessary medical attention and he is doing well.
