Ligonier Valley Railroad Wants To Be Liquidated

Greensburg A petition filed in the Westmoreland County court at Greensburg by the Ligonier Valley Railroad Company, which ceased operations almost six years ago, asks the Common Pleas Court for permission to exist.

According to the petition, the railroad company points out that its shareholders on Nov. 16, 1952, adopted a resolution directing the board of directors to take action to distribute the companys property and assets among the shareholders and liquidate and dissolve the affairs of the company.

On Aug. 25, 1952, the PUC granted the company permission to abandon operations. It had operated for many years a distance of 16 miles, between Latrobe, Ligonier and Fort Palmer.
