Joshua Vogele Dies At Home Here After Lingering Illness

Death: August 15, 1939

Funeral services in charge of Rev. D. Alan Martens of the Presbyterian Church will be held at two oclock this afternoon at the residence for Joshua Vogele, well known Ligonier coal operator, who died at 5:15 oclock Tuesday morning at his Main Street home. Interment will be made in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Wilkinsburg.

Mr. Vogele, aged 58, had been seriously ill since May 10 and was confined to the Pittsburgh hospital and his home since that time.

He was the son of the late Gottlieb and Hannah McKiernan Vogele of Wilkinsburg, and came to Ligonier 24 years ago, being connected with the Seger Coal Company ever since.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mayme Seger Vogele; one son, John S. Vogele, of Ligonier, and three children at home, Richard, Jane, and Ruther; one grandchild, John Vogele, and three sister, Mrs. Jane Vogele Palmer of Wilkinsburg; Mrs. Elsie Vogele Bethell of Wilkinsburg, and Mrs. Edith Vogele Angerer of Laughlintown.

Mr. Vogele was a member of Orient Lodge, F. and A. M. of Wilkinsburg. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, belonging to the New Castle Consistory, and the Syria Temple Shrine, Pittsburgh.
