Train Hits Automobile
Occupants Escape
A Ford coupe in which two men were riding was struck by the Ligonier passenger train last Saturday evening at the Cedar street crossing in the Fourth Ward, Latrobe. The men were returning from the football game at Mechesneytown and apparently neither of them noticed the passenger train approaching the crossing on its way to Ligonier and the driver drove upon the track directly in front of the train although the view was unobstructed and the headlight was sending its rays of light ahead. Andy Herholtz, a passenger in the coupe was hurled 50 feet from the tracks. His left ear was almost completely torn from his head and he was badly bruised about the body. Walter Kublin, driver of the automobile was picked up near the tracks. Several stitches were required to close cuts on his face but he was not badly injured. The men were taken to the Latrobe Hospital where it was found they had suffered neither broken bones nor internal injuries and then both men were taken to their homes.
