Road Receipts $2.35 First Trip
Latrobe, Nov. 26 Fifty years ago the Ligonier Valley Railroad, operating over a stretch of twenty miles between Latrobe and Ligonier, made its first trip over the road with R. B. Mellon, well-known Pittsburgh banker and cousin of the Secretary of the Treasury, acting as conductor. The sum of $2.35 was collected from passengers on that first trip.
