Ligonier Express To Be Put On New Schedule April 24
L.V.R.R. To Add New Sunday Train, Latrobe Is To Given Much Better Night Trains, West Bound
The Ligonier Valley Railroad is to add a new train to its Sunday schedule beginning April 24th, when new schedules will become effective, both on the P. R.R. and the L.V.R.R. The new Sunday train will arrive in Latrobe from Ligonier at 12:46 p.m., and will depart at 1:00 p.m., making the regular stops both ways.
The Ligonier Express, that popular train running from Pittsburgh to Ligonier, also will be added to the schedule, commencing April 24th. In previous years it never has been put on until the first of June. The Express will leave Pittsburgh each week day except Saturday at 4:07 pm, leaving Latrobe at 5:15 and reaching Ligonier about 5:30. On Saturdays the Express will leave Pittsburgh at 12:20 p.m., arriving at Latrobe at 1:32 and proceeding immediately to Ligonier.
Quite a number of changes will be effective on the P. R. R., with the advent of the new schedule.
West-bound, there will be trains stopping at Latrobe at 5:52, 6:03, 6:20, 7:13, 7:25, 7:56, 8:28, 8:58, 10:55 a.m., 1:35, 1:52, 4:05, 5:16, 6:44, 6:53, 9:59 and 11:53 p.m.
This means one additional train westward, compared with the winter schedule:--No. 7001 Ligonier Express due at 7:25 a.m.
In addition it is to be noted that No. 33, now arriving at 1:18 a.m., is to be taken off the local schedule and instead Latrobe will be given a far better night train in No. 21, which will stop here at 11:53 p.m., reaching Greensburg at 12:07 a.m., and Pittsburgh at 12:57, this being one of the Pennsys fastest trains.
East-bound from Pittsburgh, Latrobe will have one additional train (the Ligonier Express) with trains proceeding eastward from Latrobe as follows: 1:47, 6:21, 8:43, 9:16, 9:53 a.m., 12:12, 12:54, 2:10, 4:15, 5:10, 5:34, 5:57, 6:25, 8:12 and 9:30 p.m.
