Odd Fellows Idlewild Picnic

The Fifth annual Odd Fellows and Rebekahs picnic, at Idlewild Park, Wednesday, August 4th, next, is to a large extent a Westmoreland County Odd Fellows Reunion in which most of the county lodges are co-operating, and is the only one of this kind this year to be held within the county. All friends are also cordially invited and will be welcome.

Among the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges taking an active part in the arrangements are these from the following places: New Florence, Derry, Ligonier, Pleasant Unity, Mt. Pleasant, Youngwood, Latrobe, New Alexandria, Delmont, Export, Greensburg, Adamsburg, Jeannette, Penn, Manor, Irwin, Trafford and others.

Over 100 orphans from the Western Pennsylvania Home, North Side, Pittsburgh, will be present. They will bring their Orphans' Band and will play and sing as well as put on a drill in which they are very expert. They will be the individual guests of County Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, and reservation for their entertainment will be made at the next meeting to be held in the I.O.O.F. Hall, Greensburg, Wednesday, July 28th.

The baseball game scheduled for the afternoon of the picnic will be between the strong Edna team and Irwin of the Triple Link League.

Dancing both afternoon and evening will be a feature for the young, and as a splendid orchestra has been secured and a good dance program out lined, it will attract many to the park on Odd Fellows Day.

Sports and amusements of all kinds have been planned for on a big scale, and many handsome prizes are offered the winners of contests.

Free coffee will be served but guests must bring their own buckets and drinking cups.

A special train from Pittsburgh and return, making all of the principal stops has been arranged for. On account of Daylight Savings time in Pittsburgh, the train has been scheduled to start thirty minutes earlier this year, but the special will run on Eastern Time. The county stops and fares are as ollows: Leave Pittsburgh 7:35, Trafford 8:20, Shafton 8:32, Manor 8:35, Irwin 8:39, Jeannette 8:43, Greensburg 8:53, Latrobe 9:05 and arrive at Idlewild at 9:30 a.m. Returning the special train leaves Idlewild at 7:00 p.m.

The round trip fares are as follows: Pittsburgh, East Liberty and Wilkinsburg, adults $1.25, children $0.65; Swissvale and Braddock, adults $1.15 and children $0.60; East Pittsburgh $1.10 and $0.55; Wilmerding $1.05 and $0.55; Pitcairn $1.00 and $0.50; Trafford, Irwin, Shafton, Manor, Penn and Jeannette $0.95 and $0.50; Greensburg $0.80 and $0.40.

Children of the Orphan's Home will come on this special train and all who can possibly do so, are asked by committees to take the special train to Idlewild in order to make the guarantee for the train.
