Deepest Gas Well To Be Made Deeper With Special Tool
Ligonier, Pa., June 20. Following the receipt of a special socket manufactured for the purpose, drilling is expected to be resumed at the deepest producing gas well in the world located at Long Bridge along the Lincoln highway near here and owned by the Peoples Gas company.
Drillers were forced to give up the work for about a month after the point of the drill became fast in the bottom of the well. The special socket will be used to remove the drill point. A bailer has also been held fast at the bottom but this it is believed can be removed.
The well which is producing gas has been drilled to a depth of 7,710 feet.
