Deepest Well Is To Go Deeper
Ligonier, Pa., Feb. 26. The deepest producing gas well in the world, located at Longbridge, near here, along the Lincoln highway, is to be drilled to a depth of 8,000 feet, it was announced by the Peoples Natural Gas Company today. The drill has now reached a depth of 7,510 feet. The continued drilling has not resulted in an increase in the flow of gas, which is now 400,000 cubic feet a day.
Repairs are now being made at the well, but the drilling will be resumed in a few days. The Sulphur fumes are still in the gas coming from the well, but this is being remedied by a filtration plant which has been built near the well.
