Drill Deep For Gas - - No Result
Pittsburgh Company Goes Down 7000 Feet Near Ligonier
For four years a Pittsburgh company has been drilling a natural gas well near Ligonier, Pa. In that time more than 114 tons of casing to a depth of 7000 feet have been used and not a single foot of gas has been produced yet, an indication says the Pennsylvania Public Service Information Committee, of the great cost involved today in producing natural gas.
Natural gas well near Ligonier, Pa.,Where a Pittsburgh company has drilled 7000 feet without striking gas as yet. A Worlds record was set up in the use of 114 tons of casing.
That precarious game of chance is being played by the Peoples Natural gas Company. The drilling is taking place on the Seger Brothers farm on Chestnut Ridge.
The location was cleared March 27, 1920, and one week ago the log book received the following entry: Hole four years old. Drilling at 6980 feet. No gas yet but still drilling.
More casing has been used in this well than in any other, the experts say, and the tools used in drilling have been lost three times two facts which are said to a worlds record.
