Through Train Between Ligonier And Pittsburgh
From June 1st to September 23rd, inclusive, a through train service between Ligonier and Pittsburgh is to be provided through the installation of a new train, to be made up of a combination car, two coaches and a chair car, leaving Ligonier in the morning, running to Pittsburgh, and returning to Ligonier in the evening. The new train will be of Pennsylvania equipment, and manned by a Pennsylvania crew.
It will make stops at Latrobe and Greensburg, and it running time will be as follows:
Eastbound, it will be known as No. 7000, and will leave Pittsburgh at 4:07 p.m; Greensburg at 5:01 and Latrobe at 5:15, arriving in Ligonier at 5:40 p.m.
Westbound, the train will be known at No. 7001, and will leave Ligonier at 7:00 a.m., Latrobe at 7:25, Greensburg at 7:39, with arrival in Pittsburgh at 8:33 a.m.
The train is intended primarily to enable city people to spend their evenings and nights in the Valley, returning daily to Pittsburgh.
It is assumed that the train has been secured largely because of the fact that motoring is likely to be subject to detours between Ligonier and Pittsburgh this summer, due to extensive repairs o the Lincoln Highway.
