Big Gas Well Is Being Cased
The work of casing the sell drilled by the Peoples Natural Gas Company in the ridge near Blue Rock, was begun last week, and if the operation proves a success resumption of the drilling will be undertaken.
The hole is now down more than 6,200 feet, and it is the intention to try to encase it throughout its entire length. The pipe for this purpose is now on the ground and it is expected to have the job completed within three or four days.
Drilling will then be resumed and the hole will be put down for a distance of at least 8,000 feet, unless something unforeseen should prevent it, or unless gas should be secured at some intermediate depth.
It is said that no signs of gas have been discovered as yet, but the company appears determined either to find gas, or to make sure that there isnt any gas under the ridge.
The well which is being put down to so great a depth is attracting widespread attention. One of the weekly magazines recently contained an article referring to it, and quite a number of government scientists and geologists have visited it. Latrobe Bulletin.
