Extra Train Service Secured For Picnic

Special train service is assured for the big Holy Family Picnic, to be held at Idlewild, on the Fourth of July.

Some time ago, the matter of securing permission for the operation of additional trains was taken up with the Director General of Railroads, through Congressman E. E. Robbins, and while the needs of the country made it impossible to grant the use of Pennsylvania Railroad equipment for the day, Monsignor Kittell was advised, last evening, by Mr. C. H. Markham, the Regional Director, at Philadelphia, that the L. V. R. R. might use its own equipment, in operating special train service. This permission was in response to a message from the Monsignor, asking if it would be possible to operate any extra trains between Latrobe and Idlewild.

Superintendent Hyland, of the L. V. R. R. has arranged the best train schedule possible, with the equipment at hand, and it will not be necessary to have recourse to trucks, as had been planned in the event that the nations needs would have made it inexpedient to operate special trains.

The schedule will include a special train, leaving here at 11:00 a.m., and special service coming home in the evening.

There will be no special rates.

Now that train service is assured, the work of preparing for the outing will proceed apace, and arrangements will be made to entertain a large crowd.

This picnic will be the only outing of the coming month, at Idlewild. It, and the Ligonier Valley reunion will be the only two big events of the entire year, at the park.
